DENVER BIENNIAL

The 2010 Biennial of the Americas, hosted by the City of Denver, was an international celebration of the culture, ideas and people of the Western Hemisphere. Open from July 1 to July 31, The Biennial of the Americas consisted of three platforms: Americas Roundtables, City-Wide Exhibitions and the McNichols Building at Civic Center Park.

Match Marketing Group developed, created, implemented and managed all planning and programming for the McNichols Building, as well as oversaw the restoration of the building and the design/creation of the Biennial identity, name and online assets.Serving as the centerpiece for the Biennial of the Americas, the McNichols Building hosted The Nature of Things exhibition which consisted of 26 contemporary artists, 63 live performers and 57 speakers from across the Western Hemisphere. The dynamic programming and inclusion of KidsPatch weekend workshops, focused on children aged 5-12, created a once in a lifetime experience for visitors of all ages, enticing many to return to the building multiple times throughout July.

The historic building, variety of events and collaboration of artistic individuals from 13 different countries brought to life the four themes of the Biennial of the Americas: Innovation, Sustainability and Community through Artistic Practices. The McNichols Building was visited by 8,103 people throughout the month and on average 300 people walked through the building each day. One hundred and forty six children participated in the KidsPatch workshops offered on weekends and the live performances and speaker series were attended by 1,543 and 824 people respectively. The Nature of Things exhibition and all events offered in McNichols building received favorable reviews from local and national media as well as positive reactions from everyone who attended. Visitors were energized, intrigued, and inspired by McNichols offerings and patrons expressed hope and excitement for the 2012 Biennial of the Americas!
